We're Expanding

The final resting place for nearly 200 residents, friends, and neighbors, the historic King Cemetery has finally reached its capacity. Originally created in the early 1800s, and later expanded in the mid-1980s, no new burial plots are currently available.

So a small group of Marlboro volunteers and town staff began the process of designing and expanding the cemetery in 2020 and completed all work in May of 2025.

Watch our video below to learn more about our process.

Going Greener

Natural characteristics of the new cemetery site have created opportunities for three different types of burials.

These include:

Burial of cremated remains scattered or in biodegradable urns within plots located throughout the cemetery.

Full-body green burial ('natural burial') in plots located in designated portions of the cemetery.

Composted-body green burials in plots located in designated portions of the cemetery. Read about composting human remains here.

*Note: Due to the presence of shallow soils, conventional burial is not possible.
